The PetStorya journal

Digital health notebook for cats: what should you keep?

Organise your cat鈥檚 vaccinations, weight, history, prescriptions and appointments, with private records and controlled temporary health sharing.

A vaccination record in a drawer, a report in an email and a medicine name in a message: you may know where everything is at home, but assembling it before an appointment or a sitter鈥檚 visit takes time. A digital notebook gives your cat鈥檚 follow-up information a known place.

PetStorya helps you keep, date and retrieve recorded information. It does not diagnose your cat, replace your vet or make treatment decisions.

One record for each cat

Nala and Milo may share a home without sharing the same vaccinations or appointments. Start with the right pet profile, recognisable name and portrait. Check each document belongs to that cat before adding it.

If adoption history is incomplete, do not turn estimates into certain facts. List available documents and the questions to ask the vet or organisation that cared for your cat.

Keep exact vaccination and weight entries

Record vaccinations from professional documents. A previous injection and a future date are different information. A reminder supports an agreed deadline; the schedule suitable for your cat belongs in a conversation with your vet.

You can record dated weight measurements with useful context. A difference between readings is not a diagnosis. The notebook helps you show what you observed without automatically assigning a cause.

Gather health events and history

Record visits, surgeries, treatments, medicines and established diagnoses as communicated to you. A diagnosis entry stores known information; PetStorya does not derive it from a profile or your notes.

Conditions and allergies have dedicated space too. Update details when your vet clarifies them, and distinguish personal observations from professional conclusions. That makes the source of an entry easier to understand months later.

Make prescriptions and documents readable

Before saving a scan, check clarity, every page and the animal鈥檚 name. Use a clear document type and date in the file name. A report, supplied result and insurance record serve different purposes and should be easy to distinguish.

Private documents depend on your plan and use protected access. They are not automatically published with the profile. Select only authorised documents for the relevant care or health share instead of routinely forwarding an entire file.

Prepare the next appointment

Review recent entries and your questions before visiting. The notebook can help retrieve an event date or previous prescription; interpretation and decisions remain with the professional, and accessible information does not replace examining your cat.

A temporary health share lets you choose sections, set an expiry and revoke read-only access. It does not expose your account. Sharing capacity applies across your account by plan, rather than as a separate allowance for each cat.

Agree how reminders and family care work

Record appointments and reminders for vaccinations, medicines or custom tasks. Recurrence repeats reminders; it does not define a treatment protocol or automatically organise every daily dose. Keep the vet鈥檚 exact instructions available.

Notifications depend on channels and settings: in-app, email and push when enabled and permitted. Decide who updates the record when several people care for your cat. Receiving a reminder does not prove a task was completed; clear communication still matters.

Keep the notebook current

Add information and useful documents after each event. A few timely minutes are easier than rebuilding the past year. Retain paper records you need and follow the requirements of the relevant organisations: a digital space does not automatically replace every supporting document.

Yes. Start with available information and gradually add known details.

Does a QR publish health information?
