Digital health notebook for dogs: what should you keep?

Keep your dog’s weight, vaccinations, medicines, visits and documents together so useful information is ready before an appointment.

Your dog’s health history includes more than the latest vaccination: visits, prescribed treatments, known allergies and questions for the next appointment all matter. When those details are scattered across paper records, emails and family messages, preparing a consultation becomes a document search.

A digital notebook keeps known information accessible. PetStorya organises it; it does not diagnose illness, choose treatment or replace your vet.

Start a separate record for each dog

Check the correct pet profile, with name, known birth date, identification and a current portrait. In a multi-dog household, a file called “new prescription” quickly becomes ambiguous.

Begin with available records rather than reconstructing an entire history overnight. Use exact dates when known, keep missing information visible and ask the relevant professional how to complete it.

Keep vaccination and weight information

Copy vaccination details from the vet’s records. A completed vaccination and the next date given by your vet are different entries. A reminder helps you remember that date; it does not decide which vaccinations are needed or how often.

Record dated weight measurements and useful context. A chart does not provide a diagnosis. Its purpose is to show the information you have and help you ask a clear question.

Organise medicines, treatments and history

PetStorya supports recorded medicines, visits, surgeries, treatments and established diagnoses. A diagnosis entry stores known information; it is not generated automatically. Copy names and instructions from professional documents without changing a prescription to fit a field.

Conditions and allergies also have a place. Update entries when information changes, and distinguish your own notes from the vet’s conclusions. This avoids contradictory versions and helps someone unfamiliar with your dog understand the record.

Keep useful supporting documents

Reports, prescriptions, supplied results and supporting records can remain useful long after a visit. Private documents depend on your plan’s capacity. Clear file names with the animal, date and document type make retrieval easier. Check readability, all pages and the correct pet before uploading.

A visible profile or QR does not make private documents public. In an authorised share, select only the relevant items. Keeping a file does not give every collaborator or visitor identical access.

Prepare appointments and reminders

Record appointments and reminders for a vet-provided deadline, medication or a custom task. Recurrence repeats reminders using the available options. It does not create a prescription or automatically schedule every daily dose; medical instructions remain those of your vet.

Notifications use available channels, including in-app, email and push when enabled and permitted. Check your settings and keep a way to retrieve the information if a notification does not arrive. Reminders support organisation rather than guaranteeing no missed tasks.

Share only what the vet needs

A temporary health share lets you select sections, set an expiry and revoke access. It is read-only and does not give someone your account. Review the accessible content before sending the link.

Health-share capacity applies across the account according to your plan, not independently to each dog. PetStorya plans show available health-record, reminder, document and sharing capacities.

Build a light routine

Add received information after each visit; review recent entries and prepare questions before the next. Agree clear file names and dates with family members who help. Small updates are easier than rebuilding months of history.

Frequently asked questions

Can PetStorya interpret results?

Can I start without older documents?
