A QR on a tag can help someone open a profile you have prepared: a recognisable photo, a description and the information you have chosen to make available. Useful details no longer have to remain only on your own phone.
Its value depends on the destination, privacy settings and whether the physical code can be scanned. Before putting it on a tag, understand exactly what it opens.
A profile shortcut, not a GPS tracker
The PetStorya QR opens a destination associated with your pet. It does not continuously transmit location or turn a tag into a tracking device. It cannot guarantee that someone will scan it or that a missing pet will be found.
A compatible phone can access an authorised presentation. Someone who encounters your dog may recognise the photo and read the available details because you prepared them beforehand.
Prepare the profile before the tag
Add a name, recent portrait and clear description. Avoid personal details that do not help identify the animal: your address and household routines need not be public.
Identification entries and private documents are separate. Recording them does not publish them. Visitors only receive the intended public presentation and contacts explicitly authorised in the relevant features. Review the pet profile before sharing it.
Understand visibility
Private remains private
The QR is not a key that bypasses privacy settings. Public visitors cannot open a private profile’s content. You can organise your private records first and decide later whether to make a presentation available.
Unlisted can be accessed through its link
An unlisted profile is absent from the public directory, but its authorised link or QR can open the available presentation. This is not access limited to a named recipient: codes can be photographed and links forwarded.
Public is intended for visitors
A public presentation is accessible through enabled public features. Owner contacts, private documents and the full health file are not automatically published. Use appropriate temporary shares for a vet or sitter.
Three steps before using it
- Prepare the destination. Add useful information and choose visibility deliberately.
- Download the active QR. Use a suitable support. PetStorya supplies the code; it does not manufacture the tag.
- Check the finished support. Scan it from another phone or a signed-out session and inspect what a visitor sees.
Checking while signed in as the owner can be misleading because you can see more information. Also test the printed size and clarity: a distorted, tiny or damaged code may be difficult to scan.
Renew the QR when needed
You can renew the code. The previous QR immediately stops working and a new active one replaces it. Replace any tags, cards or printouts carrying the old code, then test the new support.
Check visitor access again after a visibility change. The code and the content are separate: a readable code can lead to a profile that is now private.
If your pet goes missing
The lost or stolen mode organises a case and its selected public information. Contacts, sightings and the map depend on enabled features and publication permissions. The QR supports that preparation; it does not conduct a search or replace local procedures.
Frequently asked questions
Is the QR available without a paid plan?
Yes. It is an essential feature available with Free. Paid plans mainly provide more capacity for pets and their data.
Must I publish my phone number?
No number is published automatically. Public contacts depend on explicit settings in the relevant features.
