The PetStorya journal

How can you preserve your pet’s memories?

Bring photographs, videos and small stories together so each memory keeps its meaning, rather than becoming another unlabelled file.

Your phone may hold hundreds of pet photographs. Yet finding “the walk where they first saw the sea” can take ages. The image exists, but its date, story and companions may have faded from memory. Preserving a moment also means keeping context. A life journal connects images with a few words, so they remain meaningful years later.

Choose moments that matter to you

You do not need every photograph to tell a life story. Start with arrival at home, a memorable walk, birthday, holiday, favourite game or ordinary day. A tiny event can become valuable when you explain why it mattered. A clear story is easier to revisit than an enormous collection.

The pet profile holds identity and the overall story. The PetStorya life journal holds particular moments, keeping the main introduction readable and making specific periods easier to revisit.

Add words while the context is fresh

A short note can explain what happened, where you were and why it mattered. Choose a recognisable title: “Milo’s first swim” is clearer than “Saturday photo”. Where the relevant profiles are accessible, link another pet who took part.

Add a place and tags to group events. Use consistent, simple terms such as walks, holidays and birthdays. Do not create a different tag for every wording variation. Organisation should help retrieval, not create extra work.

Be honest about dates

You may know an adoption year or a holiday month without the exact day. PetStorya supports different date precision, including an unknown date. Keep the moment without arbitrarily assigning the first day of the year.

This makes the journal more faithful. Add details if they turn up later. For new memories, enter and check the date when recording them. A useful timeline reflects what you know, rather than false precision.

Connect media to the right story

A gallery displays media; an event explains their place in a life. Add photographs or videos that illustrate the moment and avoid unnecessary duplicates. A small coherent selection makes a walk or holiday easier to enjoy again. Consider people shown before publishing.

PetStorya stores event media within plan limits. It does not automatically edit videos or produce physical photo books. Keep copies of important originals and check storage and media limits before adding a large collection.

Use favourites, pins and filters intentionally

Favourites mark memories you revisit. Pins highlight chosen events within the available limit. Tags and filters help explore periods and themes. You need not mark every entry: reserve stronger signals for moments you genuinely want to find quickly.

For several pets, link those involved when selection is available. A shared outing then retains the whole group’s context. Linking does not bypass profile permissions or automatically make other pets public.

Choose what stays private

Images may reveal your home, a location or family members. Review photographs and text before sharing. Keep personal moments private and deliberately choose what may be public. A private journal remains useful without publishing.

Profile and event visibility should match your intentions. Authorised people may access the private journal according to their role; public visitors do not receive the whole dossier. A chosen public gallery is different from your personal notebook.

Revisit the year without aiming for perfection

PetStorya moments and annual recaps use the information and events you have recorded. They revisit existing history, without inventing missing moments. Add entries regularly, then return to clarify forgotten context or enjoy a favourite.

A profile can also preserve the story of a deceased pet. Take your time and decide how to keep memories without any obligation to publish them. Create a free life journal, starting with one moment you would like to find again.
